Chicken wire is also known by the name of poultry netting or Hexagonal Wire , is a wire mesh commonly used to fence poultry livestock. It is made of thin, flexible galvanized wire, with hexagonal gaps. Available in 1 inch diameter, 2 inch and 1/2 inch, chicken wire is available in various wire gauges usually 19 gauge to 22 gauge. Chicken wire is used to build spacious yet inexpensive cages for small animals.
Material: Chicken wire is designed in Low carbon steel wire, stainless steel wire, PVC wire (galvanized or not before coating), electro/ hot-dip galvanized wire, even brass wire and Al-alloy wire.
Although the original purpose of chicken wire is for fencing chicken, it has now found more applications in various fields. It can be used to reinforce concrete. What's more, it is used by some artists to create sculptures. A more widespread use for chicken wire in landscaping is in organic pest control measures. Usually chicken wire is used as fencing to encircle a garden area, thus keeping the pests out.
Electro galvanized chicken wire is usually made of high-quality low carbon steel wire, or galvanized wire. There are two types of weaving process, namely, galvanized before weave and galvanized after weave; and three weaving patterns are available, including straight twist, reverse twist, and double twist. Usually the standard roll length of electro galvanized chicken wire is 50m.
Hot-dipped galvanized chicken wire offers excellent corrosion resistance property and oxidation resistance. Moreover, it has a long service life. It serves well as strengthening, protection and thermal insulation materials in the form of mesh container, gabion basket, containment wall or poultry fence in construction, petroleum, chemical industry, breeding, food processing, and horticulture, etc.
